Labor Day Weekend
What a time! Ethan is only 2 months old and has now flown half way across the country and driven back through 5 states. We had a blast. We went to the midwest to visit family and flew there in a private plane. Ethan slept most of the way and only woke to eat. If it has an engine, he is in a coma. Since it was a prop plane, I put cotton in his ears and knit cap on his head to be safe from any noise. I was nervous for him until we got underway as the sky was like glass and our pilot was exceptional. The private terminal at RDU is lush and peaceful and it was a very nice experience for E's first flight. It took us only 3.5 hours to get there and it was a 12 hour drive back through beautiful farmland and the Blue Ridge Mountains. The trip was fun, the views were great and we couldn't have had nicer weather.
While there we visited antique shops, drove by Amish farms, went out to eat and then headed to the fairgrounds for an incredible car auction. People came from all over the country to bid on antique cars, restored Mustangs, AC Cobras, Model T Fords, etc. There was even a Star Wars car and a few older Indy cars on display. The auctioneer was great and people were writing checks for 250k for some of the nicer models. I wanted a fastback Mustang but couldn't touch it with my checkbook. All I could picture though was E driving it when he was 18.
Here is a pic of Ethan in his knapsack enjoying the day. Of course you always forget something and this trip it was a hat to protect him from the sun. Luckily, one of our traveling buddies was nice enough to offer up a baseball cap. We are starting a new baby trend. The sideways hat.
